Stargazers apartment which sits right across the top of the house has wonderful high ceilings and a huge open plan lounge. The house is called ‘The Library’ as it was originally used to house bookcases and a collection of books for the lady who owned the house next door (the only other house down this private drive) There are three remaining book cases which where fitted in the 1950's although they are much older than that and these are shown in some of the pictures. The apartment has its own entrance and is entirely self contained and not shared with anyone. The panoramic views are un-interrupted and its a terrific place to enjoy the environment and relax. There are interesting walks from the door and the area is great for road cycling or mountain biking. Hadrian's wall, Kielder, Hexham and Corbridge all just a short drive. The apartment is accessed by a private staircase through an atrium at the back of the building. There is secure space in the atrium for cycles. There is designated parking at the front and guests can share the rear garden. You will be left completely to yourselves. The host lives downstairs and is available to message for any queries you may have. Located in the National Park which is an area of outstanding beauty and has the darkest skies in Europe. It's tranquil, picturesque and there is no light or noise pollution. The village pub the Holly Bush Inn is A 5 minute walk. Food is served every night but please check the times as they vary with the seasons. Kielder Lake and observatory is 20 minutes away. There are wonderful walks straight from the door and the area is great for road or mountain biking. Hadrian’s wall, Rothbury, Alnwick and the coast are all accessible for day trips. Hexham and Corbridge are just a 30 minute drive. Bellingham has a good variety of shops cafes and pubs as well as a petrol station and is just a 10 minute drive. There is no public transport in this area and a car is advisable. The nearest bus service is from Bellingham. The nearest train station is Hexham. There is a taxi service which needs to be booked in advance called TARSET TAXIS. This is a very tranquil location under the darkest skies in Europe. Phone reception can be poor but there is good wi-fi for guests who need to be in touch with the outside world!
